Vaughan Williams meets the West Gallery Singers

Come and enjoy a musical celebrationof the music of Ralph Vaughan Williams, in a concert marking the 50th anniversary of his death.

The Choir of Holy Trinity will perform some examples of his sacred music, whilst his secular output will be represented by a performance of his lyric song cycle for tenor, piano and string quartet On Wenlock Edge.Holy Trinity Church Choir After the interval, meet again the West Gallery Singers, who made so engaging an impact recently in the Hurst Talent Concert.

The suggested read for the summer months (one less decision to make!) is the winner of the 2008 British Book Awards - Newcomer of the Year: “What Was Lost” by Catherine O’Flynn. The reviews are great, but tell the tale.

Suffice to say is has been described as “Funny, Sad, Beautiful and Dark” and “a story of loss and consumerism” - and could it therefore be a story of our times?You, the reader, shall be the judge of that!
