AN INSPECTOR CALLS By J.B. Priestley
 |
The Birling family are just sitting down to a celebratory dinner when the mysterious
Inspector Goole appears at the front door. He has come to question the family about the suicide of a young girl that it transpires they all knew. The family all have something to hide and gradually we see relationships beginning to crumble as the Inspector drops one bombshell after another until the shattering and unexpected (and supernatural) ending.
|
This moral tale was first told in the theatre just after the war and is as relevant to audiences today as ever, as it deals with the themes of people’s humanity to one another.
Presented as part of this year’s Hurst Festival, the play will comprise a talented cast of young people and will be directed by College students Abigail Walker and Alexandra Heaton. This continues the tradition of high-quality drama directed by top Drama students as Hurst College’s Drama Entry enters its third year following Rebecca Kerr’s ‘Look Back in Anger’ last year and Francesca Zoutewelle and Alanya Noquet’s ‘Chatroom’ the year before.
