In 2006, the ‘Scratch Messiah’ was performed in Holy Trinity Church to a very enthusiastic audience and the ‘Hurst Festival Chorus’ was launched. In 2007, the main work in the first half of the concert was the Vivaldi Gloria, with the second half of the concert, in true BBC Proms style, containing many of the Proms favourites with enthusiastic audience participation, flags, klaxons, whistles and all!
For 2008, the main work in the first half of the concert will be Mozart’s Requiem. The second half will again be made up of music which people love to sing, chorus and audience alike!
Singers:
Members of local choirs and other people who just enjoy singing, are invited to come along and take part. On Saturday 27th there will be a workshop from 10 am - 1 pm and 2.30 - 4.30 pm held in the church in preparation for the Sunday performance.
Please bring a copy of the score of the Mozart Requiem with you: If you don’t have one, you can hire a copy for a moderate cost at the rehearsal. The music for the other works will be provided at the rehearsal. There will be a final rehearsal during the day of the concert 2.30 - 5.30 pm and the main event, which will close this year’s Festival, is on the evening of Sunday 28th September in Holy Trinity Church, at 7.30pm.
We promise both singers and audience a
hugely enjoyable experience!
Please bring your flags, klaxons and whistles and
be prepared to use them! |
