The Festival opens on Saturday 17 September and closes on Sunday 2 October with more than 80 events organised during that fortnight. Since the death of Her Majesty the Queen, the Festival team have considered carefully how to manage the first few days’ events, particularly those happening near to the date of her funeral on Monday September 19th. All events on that day have been cancelled.
It is not possible to cancel ‘Super Sunday’ on 18th September. It is a day of free events for the whole community, without ticketing, and clearly not feasible to contact the very large numbers of people expected to attend or take part. In consultation with the Parish Council, we have now added Community Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of the Queen, towards the end of the day, at Holy Trinity Church at 4.30 pm, led by the Rector, Rev Jane Willis, to which everyone is warmly invited to attend.
