Dressed in period costume, join us and dance to the famous Alex Mendham 11-piece orchestra (who have played to Royalty around the world) and Harry Strutters Hot Rhythm Orchestra (who headline the Goodwood Revival). Enjoy the vintage Harris funfair, watch WW1 re-enactors, drink Pimms and take tea on the lawns. Mingle with actors dressed as Lloyd George, Winston Churchill, Bonar Law, and Arthur Balfour. Re-enact history.

Celebrate the Centenary of the Victory and Peace, that ended the First World War, at Danny House in Hurstpierpoint.

Prime Minister Lloyd George stayed at Danny between July and October 1918 where the house became a temporary o ce of the War Cabinet. Here he entertained his family, his secretary, the great newspaper proprietors and the war leaders. The Prime Minister danced the hornpipe in the Great Hall at news of Allied victories and hosted a large garden party in the grounds attended by Members of the Cabinet, military leaders and people from the village.

On 13th October 1918, the Prime Minister cogitated on his morning walk up Wolstonbury Hill and then held a conference at Danny. This concluded with a telegram being sent to President Wilson of the United States from the British leaders stating they were in full accord with the general tenor of the proposed armistice.
