Raised Garden Beds Workshop

14th Sep 2019

Raised Garden Beds Workshop Event Image

Learn how to make raised garden beds with professional carpenter Martin O’Donnell from local company Modesto Projects.

We are delighted that Mid Sussex District Council and Clarion Futures are supporting this Workshop, helping to bring the community to the new building and our huge thanks to the Bell Group and the Police Fund for providing the materials and plants.

The Raised Beds we build during this workshop will stay as part of the garden for the community to enjoy.

A raised bed is a garden bed that is built up instead of down and solves all manner of gardening challenges.

Compost can all go directly onto the top few inches of the soil without the need for backbreaking work and the soil is capable of doing its own tilling as worms and roots push their way through.

It’s surprising how much back and knee strain can happen just by weeding a garden. A raised bed can resolve debilitating back and joint pain.

Raising your soil means better drainage and you will have
fewer weeds.

You can plant raised beds earlier in the season and raised beds can be temporary and are great for beginners.

Add a box, some soil, some compost, some seeds, some
water, and something will grow!
