Join us for an evening of New Music featuring young, up-&-coming musicians Finnian James, Gabriela Eva & Xoe-B, from our friends at Water Bear College and Blue Nile Management.
British singer and songwriter Gabriela Eva grew up in the historic market town of Colchester in Essex, raised on the sounds of Alanis Morissette, Nina Simone and Portishead. Inspired by strong female singers and her mother to freely express her creativity, Gabriela Eva felt empowered to teach herself to play guitar and explore her own music. This can be heard through her borderless songwriting, a hybrid mix of pop, alternative soul, nu-jazz and funk.
HEY! is the result of her collaboration with record producer Joe Dworniak, released by Riverfish Records. “I wrote HEY! in my mums living room sitting on a snug rug by the fire in Colchester...I always write easily at home. The chord progression came first, I’ve been writing on my electric guitar for a few years now and love the process. It’s one of those songs that just feels so good to play live and is easy to relate to”.
Both singles follow Gabriela Eva’s (self-released) 2018 debut EP ‘Rise Up’ and standout single ‘Sailing Over The City’ which saw spins on BBC 6Music by Giles Peterson, BBC Introducing and a Live session on BBC London with Robert Elms.
“I’m so glad I played that” - Giles Peterson BBC 6Music.
“Gabriela Eva I’m opening the gates of BBC Introducing to you, because that was amazing!” Ollie Winiberg - Live on BBC Introducing (Essex).
“Fantastic” - Robert Elms Live on BBC Radio London.
Gabriela Eva started her music career playing gigs throughout London and has performed internationally from Shanghai, Central America, Asia and Europe.
2019 highlights include performing at a variety of stages for UK festivals including ‘Greenpeace’ at Glastonbury and ‘Sunday Papers Live’ at Wilderness for Sofar Sounds.
Gabriela Eva is currently working on material for a new EP scheduled for release soon.
