Have you ever thought how nice it would be to make your own cocktails at home? Not been sure exactly what the measurements are and how long to shake it around?
Award winning cocktail bartender Jacob Jackman is bringing you a masterclass designed to not only teach you interesting titbits of trivia, but to also leave you fully capable of whipping up a quality cocktail from the comfort of your own home.
In this episode you will be learning about gin, and how to make the perfect Tom Collins. A deliciously simple summer drink with many variations, the Tom Collins is one of the original cocktails and a great addition to everyone’s wheelhouse.
As well as the perfect Collins recipe, Jacob will be teaching you the basic principles of balance, dilution and shaking, so that whatever cocktail you try your hand at you will be able to succeed!
Not only this but Jacob will be telling you stories of the wild history of gin, what exactly is Dutch courage, and why the British can’t be trusted around alcohol.
For this masterclass you will need: One cocktail shaker, one drinks measure (or any old measuring jug), lots of ice, 1 bottle gin, soda water, plenty of freshly squeezed lemon juice and sugar syrup. For the best result we recommend you make your own syrup with one part water to one part sugar! Simply add sugar to water over a low heat and stir until all the sugar is dissolved. Voila!
Jacob Jackman is an Award Winning cocktail bartender from Brighton with a passion for the history of drinks and years of experience slinging cocktails in some of the best bars in the UK.
